But why should you actually listen to anything I have to say?

My Story- The Short Version

I’ve been on the fitness journey for over 30 years.

It started back in the Army in the mid 80’s.

I was a tank commander trashing the countryside in a 63 ton vehicle while manning the ramparts of freedom on the East/West German border.

I was in fairly good shape when I enlisted…

But even so, Basic Training was a definite workout (along with the entire sleep deprivation exercise known as Army service….)

While I was stationed in Germany, I was chosen to participate in the Army Master Fitness Trainer Program…

The Army’s Master Fitness Trainer Course (MFTC) trains selected Army personnel in all aspects of the Army’s physical readiness training system.

This training allows selected soldiers to advise units on physical readiness issues and monitor unit and individual physical readiness programs.

The course included exercise science, training principles, physical fitness assessment and unit physical readiness programs aligned with Army doctrine and regulations.

The course was actually pretty fun; and inspired me to keep working out to this very day…. 30+ years later.

And Now…

I work out at my local gym rat least 5 days a week… And I have picked up a few tips and tricks from years of trial and error in the gym

Talking with one of the personal trainers in my local gym, he pointed out that I was in pretty good shape for someone 50+…(I STILL do a lot of pushups every day)

And he suggested that I take the online course to become a certified personal trainer… And maybe focus on helping clientele that are 40+ looking to get back into shape.

I took his suggestion, and am currently close to finishing personal training certification from the National Council on Strength & FitnessĀ  (NCSF)

There is a lot of great information in the personal trainer certification course that I try and share on the site (without becoming too technical)…

Along with some other tips and tricks I have picked up along the way.

It is fun, something I find fascinating…

And the end product is keeping in great shape in even my 50s.

Since I am going thru this journey anyway, you can take advantage of what I have learned… And pick up some free personal trainer advice along the way.

I share what I have tried that works (and doesn’t)… along with some other resources that I have found and tested that are actually pretty useful.

Hopefully, you will come away from the site with at least one or two different tips that will help you on your fitness journey as well.
